➡️ Rare Find! Unboxing a Frigid-Badged Robeson Box Fan
Today, I’m unboxing an incredible find—a Robeson box fan that was rebadged as "Frigid." I first saw this listed on Facebook Marketplace thanks to a heads-up from a fellow collector in our fan community. The seller was a total gem; not only did she go out of her way to ship this to me, but she also refused to charge for the fan itself, wanting it to go to a collector who would preserve it! Join me as I unbox this rare piece of fan history, talk about the "Lakewood vs. Robeson" debate, and get this beauty back up and running.
➡ In this video, you will learn:
➜ The "Frigid" Connection: Exploring how Robeson private-labeled their designs for other companies and why these variants are so difficult to track down.
➜ The Shipping Lesson: Why you should always reach out to sellers with a friendly "I'm a collector" message—it can be the difference between a "no" and a generous donation to the hobby.
➜ Design Deep Dive: Comparing the "convex" hub design of this specific Robeson model to the traditional Lakewood hubs I grew up with.
➜ Performance Test: Running the fan through its speeds and checking power draw to see how it compares to its Lakewood counterparts.
⚒️ Pro Tips:
When buying vintage fans from Marketplace, always be transparent with the seller. Telling them you are a collector who intends to preserve the item rather than a flipper looking for a quick buck often builds instant trust. If you are shipping fragile vintage plastic or metal, advocate for "double-boxing"—using the original retail box inside a slightly larger shipping box with at least 2 inches of padding on all sides. It’s cheap insurance for keeping that "New Old Stock" condition pristine!
