I booked around 5 weeks ahead. That is far below the normal price because my stay was outside the peak summer travel season. I also booked direct (using the Topcashlink link obviously) and deliberately timed my stay to check in on a Sunday. Date of stay: Sunday 15th March - Monday 16th March 2026 I think that some maintenance and redecorating is needed at this hotel. I have to admit that I probably had one of the best nights of sleep that I've ever had in any hotel south of the city of Birmingham. However , I put that down to the fact that the location of this hotel meant that I ended up doing quite a bit of walking and I'd had a long and productive travel day to reach this hotel . The location of this hotel is down a big hill . People with reduced mobility might want to consider paying for a taxi or staying somewhere else . While there are bus stops a few minutes walk away , the walk between the bus stops and the hotel involves the big hill. I didn't really know what to expect as this was my first stay at a Mercure (and only my second stay in an Accor group property). The usual scheme of ''opt out of a day's room cleaning and put the sign up before 9'' was offered at this hotel however one night stays don't qualify.
