Indian Railways has announced route changes for 23 trains between October 14 and October 17, 2026, affecting several long-distance trains connected with Madhya Pradesh, Mumbai and other major cities.
The changes are linked to railway infrastructure work between Asangaon and Kasara on the Kalyan–Igatpuri section of Central Railway. Due to traffic and power blocks for third-line construction work, several trains will operate through alternative routes during these dates.
Date-Wise Train Changes:
October 14 – 2 Trains
• 12598 CSMT–Gorakhpur Express
• 11043 Dadar–Ballia Express
• Diversion via Kalyan, Karjat, Pune and Manmad
October 15 – 1 Train
• 15660 Agartala–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express
• Diversion via Manmad, Pune, Lonavala and Kalyan
October 16 – 10 Trains
Several trains will operate through alternative routes involving Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Vasai Road, Thane, Manmad, Pune, Lonavala and Kalyan.
The 02198 Jabalpur–Coimbatore Special will also operate via Jalgaon, Nandurbar, Vasai Road and Panvel on October 16.
October 17 – 10 Trains
The affected trains include several services between Mumbai and destinations such as Lucknow, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Sitapur, Raxaul, Prayagraj, Rajgir, Firozpur and Hazrat Nizamuddin.
What Passengers Should Know
A diverted route can change the train's running time and may affect scheduled stops. Passengers boarding or getting down at stations on the affected section should especially verify whether their train will stop at their station.
If you are travelling between Bhopal, Itarsi, Jabalpur, Mumbai or other connected stations, check your train status before leaving for the station.
For the latest information:
• Call Indian Railways helpline 139
• Check train details through NTES
• Monitor official railway updates
• Check SMS or other notifications related to your IRCTC booking
If your train does not operate through your intended station, do not cancel your ticket without first checking the applicable railway rules regarding cancellation, refund or TDR.
The route diversion is temporary, while the third-line infrastructure work is intended to improve railway capacity on this busy corridor in the longer term.
Important: Train schedules, stoppages and diversion details can change. Passengers should verify their individual train number and journey date through official railway information services before travelling.
