6 Familiar Classical Piano Pieces | Mozart, Beethoven & Debussy

Six familiar classical piano selections come together in one Dawn Concert programme. All six score performances were newly rendered by computer using a virtual piano for this video. 1. W. A. Mozart — Rondo alla turca, K. 331 A returning melodic idea takes on different colors through the notes and accompaniment around it. 2. W. A. Mozart — Sonata No. 16, K. 545: 1st movement The opening movement pairs its melody with lower accompaniment, with changing harmonies shaping the phrases. 3. C. Debussy — Clair de lune Sustained sounds and more closely moving notes bring contrasting textures, gathering and releasing tension. 4. L. van Beethoven — Sonata No. 8 “Pathétique”: 2nd movement, Adagio cantabile This second movement’s Adagio cantabile marking calls for a slow, singing character. 5. L. van Beethoven — Sonata, Op. 27 No. 2: 1st movement, Adagio sostenuto The opening movement’s Adagio sostenuto marking emphasizes a sustained character, with the melody unfolding alongside its accompaniment. 6. W. A. Mozart — 12 Variations on “Ah, vous dirai-je, Maman,” K. 265 The named theme takes twelve different forms, with changes in rhythmic movement adding contrast across the variations.
