#TheSimpsonsArcade #QuarterMuncher #TheSimpsons Full Playthrough – The Simpsons Arcade Game (1991, Konami) I remember the first time I played The Simpsons quarter muncher. It was at Knott's Berry Farm in maybe 1993 or 94. I had missed this game, probably because it came out in '91 when I was deep into being a high schooler, ditching class and probably smoking funny stuff—my high school years were full of hanging out with pretty girls and making questionable decisions while I navigated the road to the gates of adulthood. However, by '93 or '94 I had settled down a little and went to Knott's with my girlfriend at the time, and I distinctly remember running into The Simpsons game because I gravitated toward the arcade that was still a thing then. I remember being impressed with the graphics and gameplay, and I know I plunked a few quarters into it and played it for a while, then went back to going on the log ride or roller coasters or whatever. Anyhow, I always remembered this Konami game because, well, The Simpsons were ubiquitous at the time, and it's a fairly different setting for a beat-'em-up. I mean, I was used to Double Dragon and the like, but this broke the mold a little. After this playthrough, I still like the game, and I'm impressed with a lot of what it brings to the table, and I can't really find too much to fault because it's a 1991 game and it's extremely good for the era. My one critique is that it's more than a quarter muncher—it's a quarter hog. I mean, I didn't count, but I know it was a lot of quarters. And the bosses get a little repetitive, but I can overlook it because it was still pretty fun and quite amusing to fight them, and the last boss is Mr. Burns, and that was just awesome. I really like how simple the storyline is and how it requires pretty much no actual storytelling dialog, just exclamations. All in all, it's good and was worth my time. I'm flabbergasted that The Simpsons is still going—at the time I write this. I'm sure nobody knew in 1991—only three or four seasons in—that the franchise would have such a long lifespan. As of 2025, there are 36 seasons. Hats off to Matt Groening. Some info about the game: The Simpsons Arcade Game was developed and published by Konami and released in 1991. It allows up to four players to control members of the Simpson family—Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa—as they fight various enemies to rescue the kidnapped Maggie. Each character has unique weapons and moves: Homer fights with his fists, Marge wields a vacuum cleaner, Bart uses his skateboard, and Lisa swings a jump rope. The game features levels set in familiar Springfield locations, such as Moe's Tavern and Krustyland. It also includes voice acting from the television show's voice actors: Dan Castellaneta, Julie Kavner, Nancy Cartwright, and Yeardley Smith reprising their respective roles as the Simpsons family. #ArcadeObscura #BeatEmUpMadness #SpringfieldBrawl #SimpsonsGame #KonamiClassic #RetroGaming #ArcadeNostalgia #MaggieRescue #MrBurnsBossFight #1991Arcade #Retropute #oldschoolgamer #gaming #gamer #nostalgia
