In C. S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Aslan dies in the place of the traitor Edmund and then rises again. Many Christians read this as a literary picture of redemption: the innocent bearing the cost of the guilty, and apparent defeat overturned by a deeper victory. This episode explores temptation, deception and captivity; how lies make “always winter” feel normal; and why Christian victory comes not through greater force, but through substitution, sacrifice and the triumph of Christ.
