Raphaël Sévère & Antoine Morinière play « Obscurs » from Raphaël Sévère

Sévère’s own piece « Obscurs », dedicated to Antoine Morinière, is strongly inspired by the American Nu-Metal band Korn. « When I began writing this piece, there was – to my knowledge – no original piece written for clarinet and guitar. I wanted to explore the diverse and fascinating sounds of these two instruments, which blend together beautifully, in an intricate composition where the clarinet and the guitar engage in an equal dialogue. Antoine and I are both huge metal fans, and drawing inspiration from popular music – in this case, riffs and themes by Korn that you’ll probably recognize – is a very common practice throughout the history of music.
