This Personal Statement Got Me Into the World’s #1 University for Development Studies in the UK🇬🇧

I originally made this video for my Facebook page, where I recently decided to start sharing more about scholarship and university applications, particularly for Zambians 🇿🇲 who are hoping to pursue further studies abroad. When I applied to the University of Sussex for the MA in Development Studies, I was required to write a 400-word admission essay as part of my application. I was admitted on my first attempt, and in this video, I read the personal statement I submitted while also explaining some of the thinking behind what I wrote. The yellow captions show the actual words from my personal statement, while the white captions are my explanations and reflections. I’m sharing the video here as well in case it can be useful to someone working on their own application. Depending on the interest and feedback, I might start making more YouTube-friendly content around scholarships, university applications and some of the lessons I’ve picked up from my own experiences.
