Canada and the United States look similar from the air and from global comparisons. Both are post-war suburban countries with large roads, large vehicles, and single-family housing as the default. Both are dramatically more car-dependent than comparable European or Asian cities. But they are not the same. Canadian suburbs are measurably less sprawling.
