The future of artificial intelligence is not only about technology. It is also about who defines the challenges that technology is designed to address. In this installment of the Nkabom Collaborative Seminar Series, Jalal Charaf, Dean of Africa Business School at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and Chair of UM6P's AI Council, explores the concept of problem sovereignty and why it matters for Africa's development in an increasingly AI-driven world. Drawing on his research and leadership experience, Charaf discusses the importance of local knowledge, context, and institutional capacity in shaping AI innovation. The seminar offers valuable insights for researchers, students, policymakers, and business leaders interested in building more responsible and globally relevant approaches to artificial intelligence. This event was held at the McGill Faculty Club on October 14, 2026, as part of the Nkabom Collaborative Seminar Series.
