The concluding section of Surah An-Nisa (Verses 154 to 176) transitions through powerful themes. It primarily addresses the People of the Book, refutes false doctrines surrounding Prophet Jesus (Isa), establishes the true nature of Revelation, and concludes with a definitive legal ruling on family inheritance. #SurahAnNisa #QuranicThemes #PeopleOfTheBook #IslamicMonotheism #Tafseer #QuranReflection #InheritanceInIslam #Kalalah #DivineRevelation
1. Violations of the Covenant by the People of the Book (Ayat 154–162)
• The Broken Pledge: This section opens by recalling how Allah raised Mount Sinai over the Children of Israel as a warning to uphold their strict covenant. They transgressed the laws of the Sabbath, rejected divine signs, and persecuted the Prophets.
• The Calumny Against Mary and Jesus: It directly condemns the severe slander against Mary (Maryam) and the boastful claim of killing Jesus.
• The Reality of the Crucifixion: The Quran corrects this foundational historical misconception. It clarifies that they did not kill or crucify Jesus; rather, it was made to appear so to them, and Allah raised him up to Himself.
2. The Chain of Prophethood and Revelation (Ayat 163–170)
• Unity of Message: Allah emphasizes that the Revelation sent to Prophet Muhammad is identical in essence to that sent to earlier Prophets, including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and Jesus.
• Universal Truth: The text warns mankind against turning away from this path, proclaiming that the Messenger has brought the absolute truth, and disbelief only harms the soul.
3. Correction of Christian Doctrines and Trinitarian Claims (Ayat 171–175)
• Rejection of Trinity: The text explicitly commands the People of the Book not to commit excesses in religion. It commands them to stop saying "Three" (The Trinity).
• The True Status of Jesus: It defines Jesus as a Messenger of Allah, His word bestowed upon Mary, and a soul created by Him. The Messiah never disdained to be a humble servant of Allah, nor did the closest angels.
4. The Final Verdict on Inheritance (Ayat 176)
• The Law of Kalalah: The very last verse of the Surah serves as a legal appendix, delivering a precise ruling regarding Kalalah (a deceased individual leaving behind no children or parents). It delineates the specific fractions of the estate distributed among surviving siblings, concluding the Surah's overarching focus on societal justice and family law. • المِيثَاق (Al-Meethaq): The Covenant / Solemn Pledge.
• شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ (Shubbiha lahum): It was made to appear so to them (referring to the crucifixion).
• رَّفَعَهُ اللَّهُ (Rafa'ahu Allah): Allah raised him up.
• وَحْي (Wahy): Divine Revelation.
• عَبْدُ اللَّهِ (Abdu Allah): Servant of Allah.
• لَا تَغْلُوا (La Taghlu): Do not commit excesses / exceed limits.
• الْكَلَالَة (Al-Kalalah): One who dies childless and parentless
