Angie K: A gunman on the school bus, Country on the radio, and dreams coming true at Disney

This week, Ben sits down with an independent artist who has skilfully blended her El Salvadorian roots with her upbringing in Georgia, and created a sound that's truly her own - Angie K! Angie got her first big break on the US version of The Voice just over a decade ago, and since then she’s been honing her craft as a singer songwriter, carving out her place in the genre she was raised on, and establishing herself in Nashville. Angie also created the Country Latin Association, to spotlight and support her fellow Latino artists in Country music. But this year, there are huge things on the horizon for Angie; her new album is due to drop at the end of May, and she’s opening up for one of the most iconic duos in Country music - Brooks and Dunn! In this episode, Angie tells the stories behind some of her most transportive songs, like Laredo, and how living in El Salvador as a child was both beautiful and dangerous.
