The Nigerian Senate has ordered a comprehensive, multi-agency investigation into travel agencies allegedly operating illegal syndicates, human trafficking rings, and modern-day slavery networks targeting citizens abroad—particularly in Libya.
Following the adoption of a joint committee report, lawmakers have mandated the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), alongside the Nigeria Police Force, EFCC, and Immigration Service, to clamp down on rogue agencies, investigate their financial trails, and prosecute offenders.
The Senate also pushed for stricter tenancy and short-let regulations to curb local recruitment hideouts. In this video, we break down the details of the Senate's resolutions, the joint security crackdown, and what this means for illegal migration networks in Nigeria.
