Every universe Marvel ever made dies in the first issue of this comic. What's left gets stitched together into one world, Battleworld, and the man holding it together is Doctor Doom. Who is now its God. The heroes knew the end was coming. Earths from different universes kept crashing into each other, and the smartest people alive tried everything to stop it. So every side made a plan for not losing: the Fantastic Four built a life raft, the Maker built a better one, and three men stood in the light at the end of everything. In between: a war over Manhattan, the Punisher at the Kingpin's end-of-the-world party, a boy pulling a hammer out of a stone, Mister Sinister's trial by combat, and Sue Storm sitting next to God's throne. Marvel's next Avengers movie is Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom. The one after it is called Avengers: Secret Wars. This is the comic that name comes from.
