For our latest string of MonoSonic Sessions, we headed to the chapel at Luck Ranch, the home of Willie Nelson. To kick things off, we sat down with Mickey Raphael, whose harmonica has been an essential part of Willie Nelson's sound for more than five decades. Surrounded by the history and atmosphere of one of Texas music's most special spaces, Mickey delivered a performance we're honored to share. Mickey Raphael is an American harmonica player best known for his signature sound that has been a key element of Willie Nelson and Family since 1973. Born in Texas, Raphael has had an illustrious career that spans decades. Mickey has collaborated with a wide range of artists across different genres. Apart from his work with Nelson, he has also recorded and performed with iconic musicians, such as Chris Stapleton, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Ringo Starr, Jason Isbell, Neil Young, Bob Weir, Margo Price, Elton John, U2, T Bone Burnett, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan, Billy Gibbons, Kenny Chesney, Wynton Marsalis, Mötley Crüe, Billy Strings, Snoop Dogg and many others. His versatile playing style is characterized by its soulful, melodic phrasing that has made him one of the most respected harmonica players in the industry. Mickey continues to tour and record, splitting his time with Willie and Chris Stapleton.
