Steve Schmidt Trio, performing "Pools", a Don Grolnick composition. 1986.

The Steve Schmidt trio is heard here from a live radio broadcast in 1986, Jazz Live from the Hyatt. Nice harmonization on the melody on the piano and bass, and a fine bass solo. Then a piano solo to follow in which multiple tunes are quoted (It Ain't Necessarily So, It Don't Mean a Thing...Manteca, hints at the Perry Mason theme ), and John Von Ohlen pushes the trio along with his drum mastery of the latin rhythms. Steve Schmidt, piano/keyboards, Michael Sharfe, bass, John Von Ohlen, drums. https://steveschmidt.net/
