Why do people hate Jim and Pam?

Upon rewatches many Office fans tend to find the audience surrogate couple Jim and Pam to be, well, annoying. What was once seen as a cute love story between office coworkers is now seen as not only annoying, but hard to watch without seeing Jim as a bully and Pam as wishy washy.
