27th Sept Morning Message Speaker Rev Lorin Bergen

On this Civic Sunday, Rev. Lorin Bergen asks a simple question: if our church weren't here, would our community miss us? Drawing on Acts 17 and Jeremiah 29, he shares why God has placed each of us exactly where we live, and why we're called to "seek the peace and prosperity of the city." Using the images of salt and light from Matthew, he explains that being a good citizen is not separate from being a faithful Christian, but an essential part of it. The message looks at how everyday believers can serve their communities by praying for leaders, getting involved in local initiatives, promoting peace in how we speak about others, and living with integrity at work, in our neighbourhoods and online. Rev. Bergen reminds us that our first calling is to shine and share the love of Jesus, and that in a polarized world we are called to be bridge builders, not wall builders, to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God. Join us as we honour those who serve and consider how our daily choices can shape our community for good. 0:00 Lead in 00:21 Teaching Time 07:18 Point to Ponder Point 1 08:59 Points to Ponder Point 2 09:34 Points to Ponder point 3 15:19 Point to Ponder Point 4 17:13 Closing Prayer 18:31 Lead out
