Winter Is Done

Words and music by Michael S. McIntyre and Dean Friscic. Copyright 2026. This song is human-authored. Suno was used for the production and vocals of the track. The lyrics were inspired by winter ending, and by the work of Merle Massie, PhD, who wrote an excellent book titled Forest Prairie Edge: Place History in Saskatchewan. She is a Saskatchewan writer, editor, and farmer specializing in local, rural, and environmental history. Lyrics: A line's been crossed in her locale The forest prairie edge At a hamlet in Saskatchewan She's put away her sledge The great awakening's begun (Mm-mm-mm) Winter is done The snow is not completely gone But hasn't long to stay More daylight for the creatures Five extra minutes a day As they all greet the waxing sun (Mm-mm-mm) Winter is done She gives her hair a shake Her summer lies ahead She sees a garter snake It's busy playing dead The forest offered refuge from The prairie's blizzard wind The prairie offered endless grass For bison to take in Her ancestors announced by drum (Mm-mm-mm) Winter is done Winter Winter is done
