The Navajo Parallel That Helps Explain the Book of Mormon

In this video, I look at how Navajo people were able to keep a strong identity, language, and tradition even while mixing with and being influenced by other peoples in the Southwest. That made me think about the Book of Mormon and why the brass plates were so important to Lehi’s family. The Nephites had records that helped preserve their language, beliefs, and identity, while the Mulekites eventually lost much of theirs. I’m not saying Navajo history and Nephite history are the same, but I think the Navajo experience gives us a really interesting real-world comparison for understanding how a smaller group can mix with larger populations and still keep something unique alive for generations.
