Giant weather balloons in the wild, and where to find them
A weather balloon is a high-altitude balloon which are used to send pressure, temperature, humidity and wind speed data with a device called a radiosonde. They are equipped with a GPS module, and send it's location to radio receivers.
Weather balloons may reach altitudes of 40 km (25 mi for us) or more. But generally, they pop when they reach around 30 km. Pressure difference inside the balloon increases to such a degree that it disintegrates. In this instance the instrument package is usually lost, however there are many ways to find them yourself. The balloon is usually filled with hydrogen or helium. In this video, I am sharing my methods & strategies for catching/hunting one.
