This is my look at the beautiful Phoenix-See - a lake located right in Dortmund, Germany. This place is truly unique: it blends tourism and everyday living with a stunning view, all in one spot. Put it on your TV and enjoy the view. A bit of history: Phoenix-See sits on the site of a former steel mill, Hermannshütte / Phoenix-Ost, once one of the largest in the Ruhr region. After the plant closed in 1998, the city decided not just to demolish it, but to completely transform the area - the site was flooded and turned into an artificial lake covering about 24 hectares. It officially opened to the public in 2011, becoming one of Germany's most striking examples of turning heavy industry into a place for living, sailing, and quiet evenings by the water.
