Broco Cutting In Sheet Pile

During the construction of the new tunnel in Gothenburg, Sweden, one of our jobs is to open up the dock wall where the tunnel segments will connect to land. Here you can see me cut a hole in one of the sheet piles on 3 meters water depth (9 feet). This was done to fill up the pile with water. The actual cut of the piles is done at 15 meters (45 feet) but the suction from the Delta P made it almost impossible and dangerous to cut. The suction made it very hard to cut since the water flow cooled down the metal. I needed to keep the rod close to the work piece at all time. Fast forward to the end to see the actual hole and the suction from the Delta P. This was done using Broco® Underwater Cutting System. The diving was performed in an AH5 free flow helmet in mid water.
