SENATOR UMEH PAYS HOMAGE TO EZE AMUOSU AT MBAUKWU IRI JI FESTIVAL Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, OFR (Ọchịagha Mbaukwu), has paid a special homage to the Traditional Ruler of Mbaukwu, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Peter Nwokike Anugwu, OFR (Eze Amuosu), during the community’s 2026 Iri Ji (New Yam) Festival. Senator Umeh, who proudly holds the prestigious chieftaincy title of "Ọchịagha Mbaukwu," described the monarch as a highly respected traditional ruler and a committed supporter of the Igbo struggle and the advancement of the Igbo cause. He expressed gratitude to God for the gift of longevity bestowed on the revered monarch, who has remained on the throne since 1970, providing steadfast leadership and steering Mbaukwu through 56 years of progress, unity and development. Senator Umeh congratulated Eze Amuosu and the people of Mbaukwu on the successful celebration of this year’s Iri Ji, describing the New Yam Festival as a historic and cherished tradition that reflects the rich cultural heritage, resilience and communal spirit of the Igbo people. He prayed that Almighty God will continue to preserve the revered monarch and the entire people of Mbaukwu in good health and strength, so they may witness and celebrate many more years of bountiful harvests, peace, prosperity and Iri Ji festivals together. The Senator also shared the moment of warmth with some other traditional rulers present such as the Chairman of Anambra State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRM Igwe Chidubem Iweka (Eze Iweka III of Obosi) and the Traditional Ruler of Umuawulu, HRH Igwe Dr. Joel M. Egwuonwu (Eze Udo II of Umuawulu). Long live Eze Amuosu! Congratulations!
