When Florida wildlife officers asked Kevin Lacz how he killed an alligator, he told them he used a drill. He also had to explain a permit issued almost two years earlier. On March 15, 2026, FWC officers went to Lacz's home in Gulf Breeze after an alligator was removed from a fenced retention pond near Milton. Neighbors knew the animal as Allie. This documentary follows the officers' questions, the men's account of the capture, the permit and tagging requirements, and the later court update. FWC said Kevin Lacz, Richard Reder and Jason Griffin each received a misdemeanor charge related to the improper take of an alligator, along with two warnings. All three initially pleaded not guilty. LATEST REPORTED CASE UPDATE In an October 27, 2026 update, reporter Mollye Barrows said the three men had entered pretrial diversion that could lead to their charges being dismissed. Her report described fines, hunting education and a five-year ban on alligator trapping permits for Lacz. This update is attributed to that reporting; it is not a finding of guilt.
