In this episode, Daniel remains faithful even under Persian rule. Jealous royal officials seek a way to trap him, until they succeed in bringing about a severe decree: anyone who makes a petition to any god or man for thirty days, except to the king, will be thrown into the lions’ den. Daniel does not stop praying to God. He is caught, brought before the king, and thrown into the lions’ den.
