"The Victors" Rings Out from Burton Memorial Tower for the First Time Since 2017

The Charles Baird Carillon inside Burton Memorial Tower was temporarily silenced during the summer of 2026 as crews removed and replaced 30 clappers, the swinging metal components inside the carillon bells. In this video, Tiffany Ng, Associate Professor of Music and University Carillonist for the University of Michigan, discusses the renovation and how it's now possible to play the iconic U-M fight song, "The Victors" on the Baird Carillon once again. "The Victors" hadn't been heard from Burton Memorial Tower since 2017, but was performed by Ng and Jon Lehrer, carillonist at both Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University, at a rededication concert on October 26, 2026.
