The film, a crossover between A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and Friday the 13th franchise, retroactively establishes them in a shared universe and pits iconic horror film antagonists Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees against each other. It is the last film in each series before their respective reboots, being the eighth in the A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and the eleventh in the Friday the 13th franchise. Freddy Vs Jason Filming Locations. Freddy Vs. Jason was filmed in Vancouver, Canada as well as Toronto, and Buntzen Lake in Ioco, Canada. The Woodlands abandoned asylum in New Westminster was used for Freddy's Boiler room scenes. Different locations were used in and around the city, as well as several sets used at movie lots there. For the final shots with Jason's island shack, Buntzen Lake was used as a backdrop. The island can still be seen, although the set has been removed.
