Mike Davies, CFO of Denarius Metals (Cboe CA: DMET | OTCQX: DNRSF), joins us on day two of the Precious Metals Summit. Executive chairman and major shareholder Serafino Iacono built Gran Colombia Gold, now Aris Mining. Davies said Iacono calls Denarius his next Aris. Zancudo in Titiribi, Colombia is in early production. Crushed rock is going to port under a Trafigura offtake. Plant retaining walls and pads are being poured. He put plant installation in early 2027 and commercial concentrate production at the beginning of next year. Q3 is tracking about 50% above Q2. His outlook is 7,000 to 10,000 payable ounces of gold this year and 25,000 to 30,000 next year. Those are his figures, not published guidance. Current margins are 35% to 40%, he said. Two new tunnels should each add about 200 to 300 tonnes a day from Q2 2027. He does not see 1,000 tonnes a day until 2028, when output could be 45,000 to 50,000 ounces. Grades now are about 11 g/t gold and 200 g/t silver. Semi-mechanized mining next year may blend to 7 to 8 g/t gold and 150 g/t silver.
Trafigura has about a seven-year offtake. Crushed-rock payability is about 65% gold and 35% silver. Concentrate should lift gold payability to 90% and silver to 35% to 45%. Gold is about 95% of revenue. A $9 million prepay is drawn. Another $7 million comes this half. Repayments started in July and resume in January. Trafigura is about a 15% holder after the August placement that funded Denarius’s 15% stake in Copper Giant. That stake is an equity investment with a two-year standstill, not a bid. He put it at about C$0.10 a Denarius share and said the position has almost doubled.
The Zancudo resource is about 1.2 million ounces gold-equivalent, roughly 25% indicated. A 15,000-metre program is underway, with a resource update next spring. In Spain, Denarius operates and owns about 22% of Aguablanca, a permitted 5,000-tonne-a-day plant 88 km from 100%-owned Lomero. A $25 million JV prepay term sheet is in hand. He put financing around mid-November and operations mid-2027. The 2024 PFS showed about $100 million of after-tax cash flow over six years. He said current prices lift that 50% to 75%. Lomero is about two years out, early 2028. Toral is about three years. This interview is for information only and is not investment advice. The ounce path is his outlook. Resources are not reserves.
