In this open and thought-provoking conversation, I speak with a man who was raised Christian but no longer considers himself a Christian. He shares why he became dissatisfied with the Christianity he grew up with and says that many of the things he had been taught about Muslims and Islam did not match what he later experienced. Our conversation covers the oneness of God, the Qur’an and its preservation, the Bible, Jesus and the prophets, Islam’s view of previous revelation, science and signs in the Qur’an, modesty, Sharia, religious coercion, and misconceptions about Muslims. He explains that he respects the Qur’an, believes there is one God, and feels safer and more comfortable around Muslims than the stereotypes he was taught would suggest. Then I ask him the “million-dollar question”: If you believe in one God and have discovered so much about Islam, why are you not a Muslim?
