The Nyumbani Village, Kitui is a resettlement and life-prolonging haven for 1,000 HIV-AIDS orphans and 125 bereaved elders on 1,000 acres arid land was built in eco-technology in a social enterprise setting. The contractors were about 500 men and women with very little prior construction experience who training to build the largest eco-construction undertaking in Africa. The theme here is holistic African approach to settlement and development in rural semi-arid areas. It is adaptable to other uses for varied outcomes from conservation, African socio-political resurgence and reversing rural-urban migration.
