Steve Lawson’s New Book Raises BIG Problems for Calvinism

Disgraced former Calvinist pastor Steve Lawson has released his new book: "Mercy in the Wilderness: How I Fell and What I Found". In it he addresses the five-year adulterous relationship that ended his public ministry. But Lawson’s explanation of his fall raises a theological question that neither Lawson nor his Reformed critics seem willing to confront: Did God decree the affair? Lawson, like other Calvinists, taught that God’s eternal decree is “all-inclusive,” that it encompasses “everything that comes to pass,” that there is “no Plan B,” and that God “pre-scripted the entire plot” of history. Meanwhile, Justin Peters and other Reformed critics strongly insist that Lawson put himself in the wilderness through his sin. Peters has also argued that without sin, God could not display His holiness and wrath —and that God has ordained this for His own glory. So how do these claims fit together?
