Aerial Tour | MRT-7 BIG Update! First Train Test Run, 85% Complete & Opening Timeline

Welcome to another aerial construction update of the MRT-7 (Metro Rail Transit Line 7)! In this video, we take you on a complete drone tour from North Avenue Station in Quezon City to Tala Station in Caloocan, showcasing the latest construction progress of one of the Philippines' most important railway infrastructure projects. MRT-7 is a 22.8-kilometer elevated railway with 14 stations that will connect North Avenue, Quezon City to San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Once operational, the line is expected to carry approximately 500,000 passengers daily, reducing travel time between northern Metro Manila and Bulacan to as little as 35 minutes. Originally approved under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Program with a project cost of ₱69.3 billion, the railway is now widely reported as a ₱77-billion infrastructure project following project adjustments, construction delays, right-of-way acquisition, and additional works over the years. One of the biggest milestones featured in this update is the recent dynamic train testing of the new Hyundai Rotem train sets. Unlike static inspections, these tests involve trains operating under their own power while engineers evaluate braking systems, acceleration, ride quality, signaling, communications, traction power, track alignment, and other critical railway systems before passenger operations begin. The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has also reported that overall construction has already surpassed 85% completion, with most station structures substantially complete. Track installation, overhead electrical systems, signaling equipment, architectural finishing works, elevators, escalators, and station facilities continue to progress across the alignment. Batasan Station has already reached 100% structural completion, making it one of the most advanced stations on the line. According to the latest government target, 12 stations—from North Avenue to Sacred Heart Station—are expected to begin partial revenue operations in the second quarter of 2027, subject to the successful completion of testing, commissioning, and regulatory approvals. Tala Station and the final station in San Jose del Monte are expected to open later after the remaining civil works and right-of-way issues are resolved.
