Fine Arts Garba | India's Most Unique Garba! | Faculty of Fine Arts, Vadodara, Gujarat One of India's most unique and traditional Garba festivals takes place at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Vadodara. Held during Navratri, Garba is primarily a form of worship of Goddess Durga and Shakti (the divine feminine).Garba is an ancient, traditional folk dance of Gujarat; it is not just a dance style, but a living symbol of the worship of Goddess Shakti and the rich folk dance heritage of Gujarat.Garba has been celebrated at the Faculty of Fine Arts for nearly 72 years, and this tradition was started by Professor Jyoti Bhatt, who taught at the institution. Even today, Garba is performed in the traditional manner, accompanied by the dholak (drum), manjira (cymbals), and peti-baja (harmonium). No modern musical instruments are used.
