20. Cold War and the Middle East

In this episode Dr. Taimur Rahman explains how the Cold War influenced the Arab Israel conflict. The USA lined up with Israel and the Arab monarchies (especially those who had oil) and the Soviet Union lined up with the various Arab nationalist movements (specifically Egypt, Syria, Iraq, Libya). The defeat of the Soviet Union in the Cold War also lead to the isolation of Arab nationalist movements.
