Declutter and organize your whole home for the New Year with this 90-day Japanese reset: one small job a week, ten minutes a night, and no weekend marathons.
In Japan, nobody walks into a new year carrying last year's mess. Families finish the old year with osoji, the big year-end clean, and my mother never saved it all for the last week. She spread the work across the final three months, so when osoji came around, it took an afternoon instead of a week.
This video hands you that same plan, adapted for an American home: three tiny daily habits, twelve weekly jobs, and one Japanese tradition to finish the year. It runs from Monday, October 12 to Saturday, January 9, and if you're watching later, just join the week that matches today's date. You never need to make up the weeks you missed.
THE 3 DAILY HABITS (the three K's)
Kokoro: three quiet minutes for you with your first cup
Karada: three minutes of gentle stretching or a short walk
Katazuke: ten minutes every evening returning things to where they live
THE WEEKLY RHYTHM
Monday: look at this week's spot and snap a photo
Thursday: do the week's job for 30 to 45 minutes
Sunday: hansei, a five-minute calm look back
