Why are domestic abuse, sexual violence and women's sexual health still difficult to talk about in Black African communities? In this BBC Radio Sheffield interview, Nwugo Ugada, founder of Let Us Speak Out CIC, shares her personal journey from navigating menopause and studying sexual health to researching intimate partner sexual violence among Black African women and why she decided to turn that knowledge into community action. Originally from Nigeria and now based in Huddersfield, Nwugo discusses the experiences that shaped her passion for women's sexual and mental wellbeing, the challenges of addressing culturally sensitive subjects, and the inspiration behind establishing Let Us Speak Out. 💜 JOIN US — BREAKING THE SILENCE Our first Community Awareness Event brings together community members, professionals and speakers to explore domestic and sexual violence, its impact on individuals and families, and the importance of prevention and early intervention. 📅 Saturday 17 October 2026 🕥 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM 📍 New North Road Baptist Church, Huddersfield, HD1 5JU Event details and registration: https://letusspeakout.org/whats-on/fi...
