"first thought = best thought" and all that, but this one and the previous one took a few drafts and revisions, but eventually the puzzle pieces fit together just right. This week's mix is centered firmly on '90-'94 dance records from an era when ravers weren't quite sure whether to call it "ambient-techno" or "intelligent dance music (IDM)" or "chillout" or "trance"... The Human Mesh Dance 12" hype sticker describes it as "post-techno ambient soundscapes". To me this music captures perfectly the energy and aesthetic of the early '90s, the rapidly advancing cutting edge of digital art and music technology used to create radical computer graphics and transcendent dance music that suggested contact with higher levels of consciousness and the next phase of human evolution. I strongly suggest listening to this mix while watching computer graphics samplers of that era such as "Warp Records - (Motion)" or "Art of Computer Animation" on YouTube!
