Babli Tigress Head-On Sighting | Chota Matka Update & Alizanza School Visit | Tadoba
A head-on encounter with Babli tigress after nearly a year-and-a-half, an update on Chota Matka’s recovery, and a special visit to Alizanza Public School. This Tadoba vlog brings together an unforgettable tiger sighting and My Jungle Junction’s continued efforts to support children in the communities surrounding the forest.
The morning safari at Alizanza Gate began with Amit and the team hoping to track Chandni tigress and her three cubs. After spending considerable time searching for them, they decided to explore another part of the forest. Just a short distance ahead, a tiger appeared on the track, walking straight towards the gypsy. It was Babli, confidently moving forward and marking her territory as the team followed her movement from a safe distance. For nearly five minutes, Amit captured this remarkable encounter before Babli spotted a wild boar and disappeared into the bushes in pursuit. It was a rare opportunity to witness a tiger at such close range, with no other gypsy getting to see the full sequence.
The episode also brings an update on Chota Matka, the injured tiger who once ruled the Navegaon Buffer landscape. According to information shared in this episode, Chota Matka continues to struggle with mobility at the Gorewada Treatment Centre. Medical authorities have deemed him unfit for release into the wild. His story remains a difficult chapter in Tadoba’s recent history, even as his legacy continues through the next generation of tigers.
Beyond the safaris, the My Jungle Junction team returned to Alizanza Public School with a special surprise for the children. During the previous visit, the team had distributed essential study materials. This time, the focus was on sports and the opportunities they offer children to discover their abilities, build confidence and learn beyond the classroom.
Inspired by the Khelo India Khelo initiative, the team gifted the school cricket kits, football kits, skating shoes, badminton kits, frisbees, chessboards, skipping ropes and other sports equipment. The teachers shared that the children were still using the study materials from the earlier visit, making the return especially meaningful.
Supporting wildlife also means supporting the people who live alongside it. Local communities are an integral part of the forest ecosystem. Their children deserve access to learning resources, opportunities to participate in sports and the encouragement to pursue their dreams. My Jungle Junction hopes to continue supporting Alizanza school while inspiring others to contribute to schools and communities around India's wildlife habitats. Every effort, however small, can help a child move closer to a brighter future.
