Extreme Makeover: Home Edition rebuilt Arlene Nickless's home in 2008. Nine years later, she was packing her family's belongings into a moving van after foreclosure. The house held reminders of her late husband, including a message the builders had saved for their sons. Her mortgage had been reduced, but it hadn't disappeared. By the time the cameras came back, she was preparing to leave. This documentary follows what came after the reveal for the Nickless, Okvath, Harper, Higgins, Beach and Riggins families. We go back to the original episodes, later interviews, local reporting and court records to understand what each family received and how their lives changed afterwards. Some struggled with the bills. Some borrowed against their homes. Five siblings discovered that having bedrooms in a house didn't make them its owners. And when reporters visited the Riggins family sixteen years later, they were still there. Along the way, we return to Kassandra's hospital tour, the Harper maintenance-fund announcement and the Beach family's table with room for everyone. The people in those scenes explain why the help meant so much to them. Their later accounts show how much could change once the programme had moved on. If you watched the show, which family do you remember most?
