Nepal Flood Alert | Barrier Lake Overflows | Dam Could Burst Anytime | N18G Nepal is facing the threat of another major flood as water levels in the Barrier Lake near the Nepal-China border continue to rise and the lake has reportedly started overflowing. A sudden breach could trigger flash floods, putting areas along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers at serious risk. The Nepal government has warned people living near riverbanks to move to safer locations. Meanwhile, China has ordered rescue teams to remain on standby and teams already at the site to move back by one kilometre. Continuous rainfall could further raise the lake level over the next three days, with the situation expected to remain critical around September 1.
