Fourth dev update on rac1-native, a reverse-engineering project that ports Ratchet & Clank (PS2) to run natively on PC. This is not emulation: the game’s original code is ported function by function to modern C++, and every function is checked against the original PS2 code running in an emulator core to make sure it behaves exactly the same. The whole game is ported, and it has been played through to the end! Every planet runs its own code, from Veldin to the final fight with Drek, the credits and the end menu. Of the code the game runs, only one function is left to port. It's not perfect yet, expect some minor bugs and glitches. What’s new since Dev Update #3: Batalia, Gaspar, Orxon, and then every planet after them: Pokitaru, Hoven, Gemlik Base, Oltanis, Quartu, Kalebo III, Drek’s fleet and the Veldin finale The European PAL disc works too, and Windows is now supported An in-game updater: the game tells you when a new version is out and can update itself Modern aiming up and down with every weapon, the RAC 3 movement and strafing, plus a Monitor option Widescreen and lighting fixes, faster rendering, and lots of bug fixes from your reports Thank you to everyone who tested the releases and opened issues, and to the contributors who sent pull requests! The planets after Orxon have had one full playthrough so far (just on Linux), so more reports are very welcome. Especially if you are on Windows and you have a NVIDIA GPU Source code and releases: https://github.com/daino-selvatico/ra... No copyrighted assets are included or distributed. You need your own legally obtained copy of the game (NTSC-U SCUS-97199 or PAL SCES-50916): all models, textures, sounds and code-derived files are generated from your disc at setup time.
