Daily Mass Readings and Gospel Reflection for Monday, October 12, 2026 | Monday of the Twenty-Eighth Week in Ordinary Time.
In today’s Gospel, Jesus warns the crowds against demanding signs while refusing conversion. He points to the sign of Jonah and reminds us that the Ninevites repented at the preaching of a prophet, while One greater than Jonah now stands before them. This reflection invites us to recognize Christ Himself as the greatest sign: His Word, His Cross, His Resurrection, and His Eucharistic presence. In the light of Saint Paul’s teaching in Galatians, we are called to stand firm in the freedom Christ has given, leaving behind hardness of heart, self-sufficiency, and the need to control God, so that we may repent, believe, and live as children of God.
