Just like India, Mauritius also uses a currency called the Rupee. Of course, the value and currency system are different, but seeing the word Rupee in another country thousands of kilometres away from India is quite interesting. Mauritius has a fascinating history. During the nineteenth century, a large number of Indian indentured labourers arrived on the island to work on sugar plantations. Many of them came from regions that are now part of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and other parts of India. Over generations, their descendants became an important part of Mauritian society. They preserved many Indian traditions, religious practices, cultural values, and languages. This historical connection explains why Mauritius has such a strong Indian influence even today. In this travel vlog, I will show you the real Mauritius through my own eyes. I will explore its beautiful streets, local surroundings, tourist attractions, and the lifestyle of ordinary people. I will also share my experiences of meeting local people and discovering how Indian culture continues to influence this small island nation.
