Experience one of China’s most epic long-distance rail journeys: Train Z501 from Beijing West all the way to tropical Hainan Island. Covering over 3,000 kilometers across mainland China, this 3-day sleeper train features one of the world's rarest railway engineering feats: the entire train is decoupled and loaded onto an ocean-going ferry (Yuehai Ferry) to cross the 24-kilometer Qiongzhou Strait. From the night departure in Beijing, through the Yellow River and central mountain corridors down to the South China Sea, enjoy the natural ambient sounds of the rails, station announcements, and maritime shunting operations. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ 🚆 JOURNEY DETAILS • Train Number: Z501 • Route: Beijing West (北京西) ➔ Sanya (三亚) [Segment Beijing to Haikou] • Distance: ~3,190 km • Special Feature: Yuehai Train Ferry (Roll-on/roll-off train cars) • Audio: Pure ambient train sounds (No commentary) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⏱️ TIMESTAMPS / CHAPTERS 00:00 Highlights Preview 01:12 Departure from Beijing West 01:47 Passing Baoding Railway Station 02:50 Shijiazhuang Railway Station 03:19 Crossing the Yellow River 03:36 Zhengzhou Railway Station 04:16 Wuchang Railway Station 05:24 Changsha Railway Station 07:03 Cruising through Rainy Mountains 08:04 Guangzhou Baiyun Railway Station 08:50 Haian South Railway Station 11:57 Preparing for Ferry Boarding 12:18 Loading Train onto the Ferry 17:16 Securing & Coupling Carriages 20:40 Ferry Departure (Crossing Qiongzhou Strait) 21:42 Arrival in Hainan Island (Haikou) ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ABOUT THE CHANNEL Exploring everyday China from Beijing through authentic first-person journeys, railway corridors, subways, and scenic transit routes.
