RECORDING LINK:    • Tomorrowland Peoplemover-Disneyland~ Live-...   In celebration of the long awaited announcement of New Tomorrowland at Disneyland, I present another extremely rare live audio recording of the PeopleMover at Disneyland. This one is from mid to late 1974, only a few months after the other one. Whereas the other recording from early 1974 features much of the original 1967 narration, in June 1974, when America Sings opened in the former Carousel of Progress building, the whole PeopleMover narration was redone for the first of a few times over its run. This recording features the rare short lived second version of the Disneyland PeopleMover narration, used from June 1974 until January 1976. This version was done by Jack Wagner, the official announcer of Disneyland from 1970-1991. Jack Wagner also did the third version of the Disneyland PeopleMover narration (May 1977-June 1982) following the major refurbishment to accommodate the construction of Space Mountain (Jan 1976-May 1977). This was the first transportation system of its kind in the world and was open from July 1967 until August 1995. It was Walt Disney's ingenious concept for smooth, safe, & eco friendly public transportation for cities everywhere. I wish that it was used in more cities. I’m also very hopeful that the long awaited return of the PeopleMover will be a part of the upcoming new Tomorrowland at Disneyland. I’m beyond ecstatic that Disney is listening to the fans by giving us our long awaited new Tomorrowland at Disneyland, but I also think it would be really dumb of them to not include a new PeopleMover as part of that plan. Personally, I think the return of the PeopleMover at Disneyland is arguably more likely now than ever before. While they didn't give us any details about the new Tomorrowland, they did give us a tagline: Yesterdays tomorrows, today. The one piece of art that they did give us reminds me of a 1960s era vision of the future. They're bringing Dreamfinder back in a new Journey Into Imagination at EPCOT, which is the Walt Disney World equivalent of bringing back the Disneyland PeopleMover. They're also bringing back Space Mountain: From the Earth to the Moon at Disneyland Paris, which is the Disneyland Paris equivalent of bringing back the Disneyland PeopleMover. This recording is particularly notable because it features a temporary preview of future Tomorrowland attractions that existed on the second floor of the Carousel Theater from June 1974 until January 1976, namely Mission to Mars (1975) and Space Mountain (1977). After the 1976-77 refurbishment, it became The Superspeed Tunnel from 1977 until 1982, which would then become The Game Grid of Tron from 1982 until 1995. I think that the beautiful architecture of Tomorrowland 1967 and 1977 still holds up very well today and much more so than the overall package of Tomorrowland at Disneyland in 2026. My big hope for New Tomorrowland at Disneyland is that it takes cues from the 1967 and 1977 versions, both architecturally and with the return of the PeopleMover.
