"The Swan" - Camille Saint-Saens (from The Carnival of the Animals)
Music is Expression: raw emotion and change
This is coming at ya'll from my archives! For the longest time, I refused to share any recording that I did not believe was perfect...but here's the thing: music is not perfection. Music is expression. This recording was raw with emotion, performed on my Senior Recital from undergrad years and dedicated to my Grandpa Big John who had passed away that previous Fall. I wasn't home when he died and was unable to attend his funeral, so this was my closure.
There are absolutely many musical/interpretive decisions I would change if I were to perform the piece today. That is yet another beauty of digging into the archives...realizing how much you've grown as a person! If I listened to this and didn't want to change a thing, I'd be worried :)
