Appalachain Rails: The CSX KD Subdivision

CSX's former Louisville & Nashville line through Corbin, Kentucky is known today as the KD Subdivision, a 161 mile single track line between Corbin and Etowah, TN. In early April, 2018, I visited the northern section of the KD Sub between Corbin and the summit of Duff Mountain, north of LaFollette, TN. Not knowing what to expect, I thoroughly enjoyed exploring this section of the CSX system, though did find myself experiencing some major lulls in traffic, as one day saw only two trains running in daylight, but parallel roads and slow train speeds made chasing rather easy. Lots of foreign units are seen, including BNSF, UP and CN, as well as some other surprises! Enjoy, subscribe and thanks for watching!!
