Sudhir: The Action King Who Became a Pakistani Superstar | LAJ Films

#Sudhir #PakistaniCinema #ActionKing Sudhir was not just an actor — he was one of the defining stars of early Pakistani cinema and is widely remembered as Pakistan’s first major action hero. In this LAJ Films special, we explore the extraordinary journey of Shah Zaman Khan Afridi, better known as Sudhir — from secretly visiting film studios against his family’s wishes to becoming one of the biggest stars of Pakistani cinema. His career stretched across decades and more than 100 films, including landmark productions such as Hichkolay, Dupatta, Sassi, Dulla Bhatti, Mahi Munda, Baghi, Yakke Wali, Kartar Singh, Sahil, Ajab Khan, Firangi and Jeedar. We look at the films that transformed Sudhir into an action icon, his connection with Pakistan’s Golden and Platinum Jubilee era, his work as an actor, producer and director, and the dangerous real-life stories behind some of his films. One of the most remarkable stories is from Sahil, where Sudhir performed a dangerous scene involving a real lion. We also revisit the shocking incident surrounding Jeedar, when massive crowds gathered to see the film and the gallery of Lahore’s Ritz Cinema collapsed during its run. But there was another side to Sudhir. Despite enormous fame and a career spanning more than 100 films, he was known for being reserved and generally avoided interviews with newspapers and magazines. From Shah Zaman Khan Afridi to Sudhir — from a young man secretly visiting film studios to one of the most recognizable action stars in Pakistani cinema — this is the story of the man who helped define an era. LAJ Films brings you original discussions and storytelling about the people, films and milestones that shaped Pakistani cinema.
