What comes to your mind when you read the message to Ephesus Church in Revelation? welcome to our journey through Patmos and 7 Churches in Asia Minor. This is the story of Ephesus city and its ruins. Once Ephesus was a big city of ports and trade routs for merchants from various parts of the world. It had a city wall and elegant marble palaces and government offices and famous library buildings on those days. First three hundred years of Christianity Romans Roman emperors did not allow them to make any church buildings. But they were gathering in many places as persecuted and underground churches. They had the biggest temples for Godess of Arthamis / Diana. They were heathen worshippers. All the glory of the city and buildings were destroyed by earthquakes and by other kingdoms and now we can see the ruins of those city. In Ephesus so many small churches were there and Apostle John was the Bishop of Churches. To protect Mary, the mother of Jesus was living there, so far from the Jerusalem persecution. Mary's house and the final resting place of John are special places to remember there. When Ottoman Dinesty took over the Byzantium empire and they they converted all Christian churches in to Mosques - that is the present day Turkey.
